Microsoft opens Games for Windows Marketplace by Zuzana Zelenakova

Microsoft announced Monday its plan to open new online game store called Games for Windows Marketplace in mid November, on November 15 to be exact. Over 100 PC games will be available at the site, including biggest hits from Microsoft Game Studios. Here are some of those mentioned in the press release: Gears of War, Halo, Age of Empires Online, Flight Simulator, Max Payne, Zoo Tycoon, Lego Universe, Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2. Apart from Microsoft Game Studios, other publishers involved are Warner Brothers, Rockstar, Capcom, 2K Games and so on. "We set out to create a digital store built for PC gamers end-to-en! d," said Microsoft PC and gaming senior global director Kevin Unangst. "And by integrating with our existing Xbox LIVE and Windows Live services, we've made it easier than ever for millions of gamers to see for themselves how easy buying PC games can be," he said. Users will be able to search for and download games anytime with a possibility of redownload of already purchased game. Gamesforwindows.com will also include the Deal of the Week feature. Right now it is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for $3,75, which is 75 percent off the original price. "We plan to deliver some of our biggest and best PC franchises on Games for Windows Marketplace from day one," said Christian Svensson, corporate officer and vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom. "Digital distribution continues to drive growth in PC gaming, and we're excited to partner with Microsoft and bring amazing games to this growing marketplace."
