Three phases of Facebook-ing! by Barbora Misakova

I am one of millions other people using social network Facebook. I have already gone through all three phases of being social network-ed, particularly Facebook-ed. FIRST phase is that one when you register, log in and desperately try to find out how that terrible page actually works. This phase is quite short. It takes usually five or ten minutes till it gets on your nerves and you log out. During the next few weeks you are not logging in because you are still pissed off, but you are listening all the time like everyone else is still talking about it. SECOND phase begins after about month you first logged in. You are quite calm and you are telling yourself: “If such a! ssholes managed that, I would too.” When you give it a second chance, you are finding out it is not as difficult as it looked before. You start to orient quite quickly and you are finally starting enjoying new social space and what it offers. Sending statuses, videos, adding pictures and commenting them and playing Facebook games! After you create your own farm and let it bankrupt, because of your new biz with Mafioso or disproportionate cleaning of fish tank, you became officially Facebook addicted. You get into the condition when you don’t care what people think about you when you are asking them publicly for pig or some stupid game gift. And you are just that happy when some of them actually send you what you asked for. This period takes approximately week or two. In few cases (uncovered in about 2 million cases) it takes a bit longer – about one or two years. And one day, when you get out of that bloody gaming coma and you discover that most of your fr! iends hide your posts or blocked you, you get to that THIRD ph! ase, whe n you become a normal and healthy Facebook user!
