Video Game Market set to explode
by Magdalena Rosova
While American economy is slumping, the video games market is blooming. According to DFC, the entertainment industry is up to achieve profit of $57 billion next year. In 2007 global video game industry approached $40 billion. However, predictions few years ago forecast that video game industry will be wort $58 billion in 2007. What is the deal? Reason why forecasts differ is that various research companies come to diverse conclusions. That is a natural. Same findings should be rare.Anywise you look at it, the global video game market has been absolutely prospering the last few years. Between 2000 and 2001 the industry grew from $6.6 billion to $9.4 billion (and the numbers do not include PC games sales or even online revenue). In 2007 it was already $17.94 billion. Each research is based on different probability algorithm and each research company distinguish from others by different emphasizes of research as well. Although the video games market will surely keep growing, it might not grow as fast as it could in a more benign market climate. According to Wii, video game console released by Nintendo, analyst David Cole says “The Wii does not appear to be a fad and it has the chance to be one of the best selling systems of all-time." There is a chirping good news for PC gamers as well. DFC affirm that the PC was the number one platform for games in 2007. PC online game profit alone was more than $7 billion in 2007 and whole PC game revenue is expected to be more then $19 billion in 2013.
