It's inevitable: soon we will all be gamers
by Radka Konkolova
I think the most of today's children can work with computer and other technical conveniences. Sometimes they are better in using them than their parents are. And almost every child loves video and computer games. I think this is first think they usually do with PC. And of course it is good for them and sometimes maybe for their parents as well. But everything has to be done in some measurement. So children shouldn't overdo “stay” in front of the monitor. Some games can help them develop themselves and their attention and concentration too. Current games very differ from those from twenty or thirty years ago, when they were on the start of their “career”. Now this industry is extending and developing very fast and those companies therefore have to produce better games and better consoles or computers with two or four cores, in order to keep abreast of the times and with newest games and gamers who want to try something different and in the best quality. The first games were dedicated to the children and adolescents, so they included different fairy tales character as Mario or Sonic the hedgehog. But then creators from Sony realized that they had not chosen the right group of people. So they decided to produce something more adventure and thrilling which they introduced to young men of about twenties. And they saw the decision was the best. So afterwards companies started to make games full of action, shooting and explosions. But some of these game still had got the point and gamer sometimes had to use his head and brain to hurdle. Nowadays some people can't imagine life without such an entertainment and according to a research many households have got playing consoles in their living room and gather around this “miracle” and spend that time together by gaming. It is similar to previous times when families gathered in front of the TV or by playing Monopoly. So we can see the time is changing... Creators learnt how to make the best games for young and older men. But then the question was how to motivate teen girls and women to play such or similar games. And the solution has been creating such games which are closer to their lives and problems. So they have made family and female-friendly gaming equivalents of Titanic, Sex and the City and Love, Actually. Sony and its biggest rival Nintendo are trying to do this and achieve more concerned persons and bigger success. For example, Nintendo has created a game dedicated mainly for women who want to take care about a pet. They have to care and influence little sweet virtual puppy or product that uses video game technology to track your weight and build exercise programmes. On the other hand, Sony has appealed to young women with British-developed karaoke games. Even retired people love joining in it, because there are made some games which track their mental acuity and provide gentle, interactive brain and body exercises. I think this certainly help older people to be fit, in very good physical and psychical mood. And the newest Wii made by Nintendo is very interactive console because of its special remote and other technical conveniences which are part of this. As I have already mentioned, time is changing and there are more and more things that can make your life easier and provide you better and more interactive entertainment.
